Intern Scholarship Opportunities

Powering your education.

A limited number of merit-based scholarships will be awarded annually to students completing Evergy's internship program. Strong consideration will be given to candidates living in an Evergy service area who are interested in a possible future career with us, especially students in the following degree fields: engineering, computer technology or other similar fields. Scholarship deadline is October 15, 2023.

Scholarship awards

  • Award amount: $5,000 per semester
  • Renewable, up to four Fall/Spring semesters 

A completed application and letter or video of interest must be submitted by October 15, 2023.

Recipients will be announced in early November.

  • Must be a current Evergy intern or have received an internship offer from Evergy
  • Must be a Kansas or Missouri resident or planning to relocate after graduation
    Preference given to students living in Evergy's service areas
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a university or technical college and graduating by December 2025
    Preference given to, but not limited to, the following degree fields: engineering, computer technology or other similar fields
  • Must maintain 2.75 G.P.A. during degree program
  • Must submit an updated resume
  • Must submit an updated transcript (unofficial accepted)
  • Must submit a letter or video of interest
  • During the summer internship program, must complete and will be evaluated on end-of-summer presentation

Applicants must submit a letter OR video of interest with their completed application by October 15, 2023. Letters should be between 500 to 1000 words and videos should be 3 to 5 minutes. Submissions must address the following topics:

  • Tell us why you are interested in a career at Evergy and/or in the energy industry
  • Tell us about an academic achievement, project or experience you are proud of
  • Tell us about an interest or passion outside of school

Applications submitted without a letter or video of interest will be considered incomplete and the student will not be considered to receive a scholarship. Letter or video of interest submissions that do not address all three of the topics above will be ineligible to receive a scholarship.
